Maybole took an early lead when Michael Reilly took advantage of slack marking by the Glens defence when a free kick found him with time to head the ball past the home keeper one nil Maybole. Both teams struggled to put any passing game together and very few chances fell to either team and the game finished 0-1 at half time.

The home side came out determined to put on a better display and Leon Murphy blasted an unstoppable shot past the away keeper to draw the Glens level. 1-1. Glenafton took control of the game and five minutes after Glens first goal another flowing passing move seen a brilliant finish by David Blyth and a 2-1 scoreline for the home side. 2-1. Maybole pressed for the equaliser but resolute defending by the Glens seen any of the away side chances few and far between. So the game finished with no more goals and the home team securing a win with the loudest shout all night of the young team behind me celebrating a Denmark goal.
