Joe Andrew

Glenafton took the lead on 8 minutes after a passage flowing football from deep in their own half to the outskirts of their opponents’ box where Conor Lynass tried his luck with a low drilled shot from 20 yards only for it to be blocked by a defender after which Cameron Marlow challenged for the loose ball to send in spinning into the air and Lynass on hand to flick it the way of Joe Andrew to lash a low angled shot home. Marlow didn’t recover from the tackle and was replaced by Chris Dallas. The home side dominated the rest of the half with further chances coming the way of Mick McCann, Andrew, Dallas and Lynass and the woodwork coming to the aid of ‘Ford.

The visitors best chances came at the beginning and the end of the second half with the Glens enjoying the period of play in between with chances for Andrew. Dallas and sub Iain McKnight. In the closing minutes Brian McGarrity pulled off a fine save from a close range header to prevent the penalty shoot-out and ensure Glens progressed to the final
