Glens were quickly on the front foot and Chris Dallas had already come close with a number of headers before finding the net from close range only for the offside flag to deny him the opener on 10 minutes.

McIntyre heads Muirkirk in front

The visitors took the lead six minutes later in their first meaningful attack after a free-kick from the left was floated to the far corner of the six yard box where  Darren McIntyre’s powerful downward exploded off the ground and into the roof of the net.

David Gray blasts home the equaliser

The home side responded well and continued to carve out a host of chances including another disallowed goal, the ball crashing off the post and keeper George Scott pulling off a number of good saves. However the the keeper could do little to stop the Glens equaliser two minutes from the break after good work by Dan Orsi set up David Gray to unleash an unstoppable shot from 25 yards. Muirkirk began the second half brightly and came close to regaining the lead on 52 minutes after the impressive Graeme Condon menaced his way into the box before picking out the unmarked Jordan Burt at the back post. The striker looked certain to score and although his shot beat keeper Brian McGarrity the ball struck defender Ryan McChesney, now covering the goal-line beford the keeper pounced on the loose ball. Claims for hand-ball were waved away to the dismay of the visitors.

Cammy puts the home side ahead

Three minutes later trialist Connor Lynass slipped the ball to Cameron Marlow on the edge of the box and after a couple of touches drilled the ball home from 15 yards.

David dips home his double

On 58 minutes the Glens doubled their lead when a superbly struck free-kick from David Gray from 25 yards beat the ball before dipping under the bar in a flash.

Dan’s daisy cutter makes it 4-1

Muirkirk surrendered possession from the kick-off allowing Dan Orsi to burst into the right hand side of the box and lash a low angled daisy cutter that may have taken a slight deflection before nestling in the net to make it 4-1 for the home-side.

Connor cracks home No. 5

The Glens again quickly regained possession from the kick-off allowing Orsi to turn provider and slip the ball to Connor Lynass in the box who turned a couple of defenders before curling rhe ball into the far corner beyond the reach of the keeper.

Kyle completes the scoring

Four goals in a devastating seven minute spell killed off the game but credit to Muirkirk who regrouped and kept the visitors at bay until 10 minutes from time when a free-kick from the right was bulleted home by the head of Kyle McAusland from 6 yards out to conclude the scoring.
