McBoookie.com West of Scotland League Super League Premier Division: Match 19

Saturday 30th April 2016, Loch Park, New Cumnock

GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 2 (0)

KILBIRNIE LADESIDE 0 (0)

Glenafton made two changes to the side that started against Meadow on Wednesday night with Alan Cairns and Dan Orsi replacing Jamie McGeoghegan and Craig McGuffie.

Both sides had some decent chances before Chris Dallas broke the deadlock on 38 minutes after the Glens striker gathered a through ball before running in on goal firing a low angled shot into the net.

Ten minutes after the restart the home side were reduced to 10 men after Jamie Hay received a second yellow card. The ten man dug deep and Ladeside limited to a few chances and indeed Glens almost double their lead only for Darren McGill’s shot from outside the box to crash over the crossbar. The visitors came close to equalising only for Brian McGarrity to pull off a great save from a close range shot from Adam Forde and his defenders block the attempt to bury the loose ball. With the game still on a knife edge Ladeside were reduced to 10 men after a rash tackle from Caolann McAleer produced a second yellow card from the referee. In the closing minute the Glens repelled another Kilbirnie, broke upfield in numbers and set up Chris Dallas to bag his brace and seal the points.

A fantastic performance from the Glens who lost Cameron Marlow and his replacement John Paul Boyle to bad injuries during the game.
