The club were saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong Glenafton Athletic supporter Jack Harris . Former club president Alex Jess, once a neighbour of Jack’s at Farden Avenue, described him as “an out and out Glens man that hardly missed a game , home or away”. Jack liked to stand up beyond the away dug-out and before every game Alex would ask him “will we win today Jack” and the reply was always “of course Alex” . He moved to Cumnock a few years ago but never missed the chance to let people know his footballing allegiances still lay at New Cumnock !

The thoughts of all at Glenafton Athletic are with to Jack’s wife Peggy, son John, daughter Kay, family members and friends at this sad time. There will be a minute’s silence before kick-off at Saturday’s home against Beith Juniors in memory of Jack .

Jack’s funeral will take place at Ayr Crematorium on Ftiday 18th March at 3:30pm.
