MUIRKIRK JUNIORS 1 (0)
GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 6 (4)
Summer signing Gareth Campbell opened his account for the Glens in the first minute of the first competitive game of season. A long clearance from keeper Ally Semple was layed off by Gareth Armstrong for his namesake to smash home the first of four first half Glens’ goals. The visitors were well on top with the young Muirkirk team just hanging in . Chances were being created and going abegging when Gareth Armstrong met a coner at the near post and netted. Paul McKenziegot in on the act and netted after a good passing movement Yet another Ally clearance allowed Campbell to pass to Lewis Sloan who made no mistake in scoring on his competitive debut with a cracking volley. H/T Muirkirk 0 Glens 4
The home side came out the blocks and had a good 8 minutes spell and pulled a goal back after some slack Glens defensive play. Robbie Henderson was not amused and all and sundry felt the sharpness of the skipper’s tongue. He also showed the front men a thing or or too (two!) when through the half he rose above everyone to thunder home a header . Glens continued to press forward and Robbie Henderson scored a carbon copy header from yet another corner. F/T Muirkirk 1 Glens 6
