Glenafton made five changes from the elevent that started againt Newton Stewart in the 3rd round South Cup tie last Saturday with Kelvin Daniel, Paul Paton, Brannan McDermott, Robbie McDougall and David Craig making way for Blair Anderson, Craig McCracken, Lewis Currie, Evan Maley and Michael Mullen.

The two sides have met before in the Scottish Junior Cup back in Season 2019/20 and coincidentally in the 3rd round while the tie was at Loch Park. There was very little between the two sides with the visitors going in at the break 1-0 thanks to a Kane Winton header. Joe Andrew drilled home the equaliser on 70 minutes before substitute Dan Orsi bulleted a header home to put the Glens ahead on 79 minutes. However, the drama was not over as Banks O’Dee were awarded a penalty on 85 minutes, up stepped Stuart Duff only for youngkeeper David Wilson to pull off a great save and push the ball wide of the post.

There was little beween the two teams today and it was Glenafton that scored a late later winner on 90 minutes from a header by substitute Robbie McDougall.

Play was raging back and forth as both teams looked to avoid a penalty shoot-out. Lee Duncanson on the left gathered a Dee clearance deep into the Glens half and quickly launched the ball upfield for Shuggy Kerr to trap it just inside the box before a defender took a touch to knock it out for a corner. Michal Mullen curled a glorious high ball deep in the box where both Craig McCracken and Robbie McDougall out leapt the defenders and it was the header of the young striker that struck off the thigh of another defender on the line and into the net. Glorious celebrations!

Back to back 3rd round Cup wins, two clean sheets and two match winning goals from Robbie!
