Glenafton made one change from the 11 that started against Beith last Saturday with Lewis Currie making way for Liam Caddis

Glenafton and Threave Rovers met each other at Loch Park n the 1st Round of the William Scottish Cup in Season 2017/18. Glens gained entry as Premier League Champions (and Scottish Junior Cup Winners while Threave were members of the South of Scotland League. The Glens ran out 4-0 winners with goals from Mick McCann (2), Joe Andrew and Dale Moore and went to reach the 3rd round losing out 2-0 at Livingston United.

Today both clubs play in the West of Scotland Football League, Glenafton in the Premier Division and Threave in 3rd Division and both gained entry into the competition as SFA member clubs. Today it was the Castle Douglas side that triumphed with a convincing 4-2 victory.

Aiden Kerr opened the scoring for the visitors on 25 minutes from a corner kick that was nodded into the six-yard box for Kerr to slam home. Kerr doubled Rovers’ lead on 38 minutes firing home a cut-back from the touchline before completing his hat-trick on the stroke of half -time, stroking the ball home from 18 yards.

Glenafton pulled one back on 61 minutes after Michael Mullen headed home a cross into the six-yard box.

However back came Threave to restore their 3 goal cushion on 75 minutes after Ross Irving cuts into the left hand side of the box to drill a low angled shot past the outrushing Ally Semple. In time added-on Dylan O’Kane completed the scoring with a late consolation for Glenafton.
